Here it is the day after Thanksgiving and I just realized I didn't take a single photo on Thanksgiving Day. My boyfriend made almost the entire meal. We even had oyster dressing this year.

Anyway, we are off to go to a bike shop to look at tires from my boyfriend's recently acquired track bike. I'm taking the camera along because it's a beautiful cloudy day in S. California.

Update: The strip mall we were in didn't have much I felt like pointing my camera at, but I hate to come home empty handed so here are a few.  See how tired I look? I need a nap.

Who is going to clean up this mess?

  • Sep 4, 2008

I am going to craft today. I really am. There's just been so much piddly stuff that needed doing like changing the sheets, doing laundry, emptying trash, and dealing with my annoying neighbors who keep putting trash and boxes in front of my gate. Don't most reasonable human beings know that if you put things in front of gates it defeats the purpose of having a gate?

I rescued one small sunflower that had somehow gotten tangled up with the beans. I put it in a vase in the kitchen along with some pink zinnias.

My boyfriend's been missing his best glasses for closeup work. After I got the laundry out of my bedroom, I spotted his glasses in a basket that had been buried under the laundry. I have no idea how they got in there. My house elf must be mischievous.

Last night I caught part of Wife Swap where the close-minded Christian housewife was trying to enforce her work ethic on the new family trying to convince them that unless you work, you aren't entitled to anything good in life. Her own kids have to work for 'tokens' so they can buy the right to even listen to a song on the radio. Beware of your own belief systems. Because in many ways we manifest what we believe. Look how hard the slaves worked and they got nothing but beaten and raped. Hard work doesn't automatically equal great success in life. And the world bestows many gifts on some people that never seem to work a day in their life. So find a balance, 'All work' is as bad or maybe worse than 'all play'.

Working with wire

2 wire cage pendants
2 wire cage pendants

I learned to do twining (a basketry technique) with wire today. I made three cage pendants. I filled them with seashells, polished stones, glass beads and a marble. I learned how to finish the sharp points by holding them over a propane torch. I can see a lot of possibilities with this technique and will probably list some of the jewelry at http://www.hypnotic.etsy.com

Win a Sibelius5 with Walt Ribeiro.

I need to win this contest so bad: http://waltribeiro.net/SIBELIUS5/ It is a composer's dream to be able to have an efficient way to write down new ideas before they slip out of your mind. Tomorrow on Walt's show is the big giveaway, so I sure hope I don't forget to attend. You have to be there to win it. So that's where I plan to be. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/your-daily-music-lesson-with-walt
